Basketball player Draymond Green of the NBA champion Golden State Warriors will be away from his team until further notice and will train individually.
The four-time NBA champion made his public statement on Saturday (local time) for the first time since attacking teammate Jordan Poole during a training session earlier in the week. According to head coach Steve Kerr, it’s a joint decision.
Green specifically spoke about the mistake and apologized for his behavior. The 32-year-old striker is said to have personally apologized to Poole and the team before leaving the gym on Thursday. After that, the video of the incident was published, which Green has now addressed. It was a “shame” to see it.
What’s next for Greene?
It’s unclear if or when Green, who spent his entire NBA career with the Warriors, will rejoin the team. So far, the Warriors have only announced that they will handle the matter internally and will not comment on the punishment.
The NBA regular season kicks off on October 18 from San Francisco with superstar LeBron James and Germany captain Dennis Schroeder against the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers.
