Dirk Nowitzki (44) is getting his own restaurant at the Dallas airport.
Like the transmitter CBS News reported that the airport management approved the plans on Thursday. The German basketball legend therefore also wants to offer local food. Anyone landing at the Dallas airport in the future can fortify themselves with Franconian Slaughterhouse or Würzburg “Blausudsulz,” a type of bratwurst. Bratwurst is sometimes mentioned on menus published by Nowitzki’s project partner.
Airport operators have announced that Nowitzki will open in Terminal C in the summer of 2023. The restaurant will also feature a bar where guests can order Mav’s Blue Margarita, Slam Dunk or Dirk’s Fadeaway.
Nowitzki is a legend in Dallas
Nowitzki moved from DJK Würzburg to the NBA in 1999 and played there exclusively with the Dallas Mavericks until his career ended in 2019. In 2011, the longtime captain led his team to the club’s only championship to date.
The number 41 jersey of the “German Wunderkind” has been hanging under the roof of the Mavericks Arena since January of this year. The Texans will no longer award a jersey number in Nowitzki’s honor.
