Bayern Munich won the German basketball premiership against Alba Berlin in the debut of EM hero Nils Giphy.
Coach Andrea Trinchieri’s team celebrated its 2nd consecutive victory in the Euroleague with a hard-fought 79:77 (45:39) battle against the German champion. Former Berliner Giffy scored his first three points for Bayern.
Munich led 26:15 after a strong first quarter, but fell behind for the first time after halftime with 0:13 running. In the end, it was enough for Bayern, who lost last season’s Bundesliga final against Alba. National team players Andreas Obst and Augustin Rubit are the best shooters of the Munich team with 14 points each, and Jaylin Smith scored 20 points for the Berlin team.
Bayern are on the move
In the Euroleague, Munich suffered five defeats at the start, but now they are slowly gaining momentum. However, Alba still have the better cards with three wins from seven games.
There were a total of four players on the floor who won a bronze medal with the national team at the home European Championships in the summer. Berlin’s Johannes Tillmann has met with Munich’s Nick Weiler-Babb, Obst and Giphy, who Bayern signed from Murcia on Tuesday. Alba’s Maodo Lo is injured.
