700 million for German sports

D:Federal funding for sports will double in the coming year. The budget committee of the Bundestag decided in its adjustment session on Friday evening to increase the previously planned 300 million for 2023 by 400 million euros. They contribute to the renovation of urban sports, youth and culture facilities. According to the budget of the Ministry of Construction, 60.5 million euros have been allocated for this until now. The chairman of the board of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), Torsten Burmester, noted that the municipalities exceeded the plan by 2.3 billion euros. The German Sports Association for the Disabled (plus 1.25 million euros), the Leipzig Institute of Applied Training Science (1.5 million) and Sports Youth (1 million) will also receive more money. The federal government is providing €1.75 million to upgrade the Altenberg bobsled run for the 2024 Luge World Championships. 1.5 million euros are directed to the prevention of right-wing extremism and xenophobia in sports. The creation of the “Campus Sportdeutschland” at the DOSB headquarters in Frankfurt is being supported with a total of 400,000 euros.
